What do people think about a career as a professional guidance counselor for young people?

I'm considering a career in guidance professional advice (in England) I know that now enters the Connexions Service. I wondered what people thought about it as a career. Is it rewarding? Having worked in social services I am aware of the difficult people you are driving, but what I want to know Do you feel like you're making a difference and is it worth it?

I have a child due to leave school in May. I worry about him every day off to a good start and find a job worthwhile. He has a hip problem, he is not above average academic, but is loyal, honest and hardworking. I hope with all my heart that Connexions is someone who cares enough to help you make a start in life as an adult, especially since I live in England, so I can do for him is very limited. 55 am and I still remember with appreciation what the service of youth employment has to find a job for me when I left school. If you are the type of person who gets the satisfaction of playing a key role in making a start in life for young adults there can be few more important jobs.
