Test Jobs

In your experience; how often do employers test their in office job applicants for drugs before hiring?

Is it a common practice to test job applicants who are applying for desk jobs for drugs before they are hired? Has it happened to you?

In today’s society is has become very common practice for employers to drug test prospective employees for drugs before hiring them. The philosophy behind this is that employees who are drug free will make less mistakes, not miss as much time off from work, and will hence make better employees.

Just because an employee holds a desk job does not mean that if errors are made it is not costly to the company. For example, lets say if the individual was a claims examiner for an insurance company and he/she constantly made errors paying out the claims due to drug use (this is hypothetical of course), this would cause the company a great deal of money to recoup the errors made. Thus, this is why the companies today are leaning towards drug testing all potential employees, it saves them money in the long run.

Best wishes.
