I have public intoxication on my record, can I still get a job at Target?

I have been called for a conditional job offer based on drug test and background check… I have bad credit (even owe $ on my Target card), two public intox charges from the spring and an OWI from two years ago in November. I’m applying for the cashier position. Does anyone know what they check for on the background checks? I have another part time job already, and am not sure if I should put in my two weeks or not.

I’m not too sure on the Target card issue (they don’t really have access to that at all at the store level), but for the background check, they use an outside company to do that (most companies do) and I don’t believe they even see what is on the report. All they do is send your info to this company, who then researches your record, and its basically a pass/fail test. Either you are “ok to proceed with employment” or you are “not ok to proceed”. Even if it comes back as not ok, they don’t find out why, so if you wait a couple years, it will eventually fall off the record for the times that they search, and you should be ok.
