Looking for some advise about my next career move.?

I am currently 25, and have been in the mortgage business for 6yrs and with the same company for 5yrs. I was a top producer for a huge company in upstate NY. Also was promoted to manager in 2006. I am back to being a loan officer now and things are not going well at all. Should i look for another position in the company or just keep with what i am doing right now, which i am not happy with. Thank you for your help!

I have been in the mortgage business for only 2.5 years, and man, are things tough right now! A year ago, I was closing 20-30 files a mth just for 1 loan officer. He was also the top producer for the company. Now he is only closing 3-5 files a mth (if he’s lucky). I also work for his Realtor wife, and she is not doing good at all. So that can give you a hint. You sound really professional, educated, young, and “top producer” : ) Why not take advantage of that? I dont think as a loan officer you will be doing so good. The market is bad right now, especially now that the lenders are getting pickier with their borrowers.
If you are not happy with your current position, I say look for another position that you will not only enjoy, but make money out of it.
