Jobs Students
What jobs are available for the students who just completed medical school without any residency?
…or is about to enter residency?
Secondly, how much can you earn with those jobs if they are available? Are they just internships? or what? explain.
Also, how difficult is it to get a job right after finishing medical school?
[Med students and doctors please help]
There aren’t any medical jobs available to a new MD. Although you have earned your degree, you do not have a license. Your first license to practice is provided under the aegis of your residency program and is only valid while your are in training, meaning you can’t start practicing medicine independently from that program.
The value of a MD degree only comes after you are board certified in a specialty. There are many foreign educated physicians working in non-medical jobs because they are unable to pass the USMLE (a few years ago there was a news report of the number of Indian physician cab drivers).
The bottom line is that a person who has completed medical school is expected to immediately enter a residency program. Doing anything else makes no sense and about the only reason a person would be in that situation is because they could not get into any residency…and that sends the worst message.
