Nearly a third of Canadians found their most recent work over the Internet, according to a recent study published by Kelly Kelly Services Inc., a company international temporary staffing, published the results of its overall Workforce January 2008. The index is the result of a survey of 115,000 respondents in 33 countries, including 11,000 Canadians.

The survey also reported that online recruitment is considered by respondents to be a better way to find a job, with 71 percent satisfied with the outcome compared with 57 percent of respondents satisfied with traditional written and published applications.

"With the popularity of online job boards, social networking sites, and technology-driven recruiting systems increasing exponentially, people are now very confident about applying for jobs online while employers are becoming more specialized in managing online recruitment, "said Karin French, vice president and general manager, Kelly Services Canada.
For Canadian employers, this means that the use of the Internet will be an important factor in their search for quality personnel. A single monthly job advertisements online can vary from zero to $ 700 depending on the site selected work.
French argues that "while the online recruitment eclipsed all other forms of recruitment such as 'word of mouth,' direct approach and newspaper advertising, candidates should use multiple search methods as competition increases in the labor market.
Also, job seekers would do well to consider a variety of jobs online and offline while conducting the search employment. Small and medium enterprises, providing employment and excellent growth opportunities may not always be able to afford the more expensive paper-based and Internet advertising. "Checking one or two sources only limits the number of posts is working. The use of smaller, local web sources to find jobs also may mean less competition for candidates found in the much-hyped national and international sites.
The bottom line is in line for both Canadian employers and job seekers, as the increasingly widespread Internet on the horizon job search.
