What would you do if you were me? Is a divorce worth it?

He’s constantly putting us on fed. aid. He’s failed to report income to the social worker. He’s threatening to quit this job after only 2 weeks, which would screw us out of (supposedly pending) food stamps for the next calendar YEAR. He’s got no job lined up. He’s a trucker with a CDL-A class, hazmat, airbrakes, pass. endorcement, so he’s marketable. He’s a good (not fantastic) father when he IS home, but still won’t change diapers (2 kids, oldest 6, youngest is 1). MI economy sucking as badly as it does, even PT jobs are hard to come by, and since he’s gone almost all the time it’s difficult to come up with a viable work schedule we can all agree on for ME to work. Help!
That last answer got to me- “see how you feel in 5 years.” I’ve been sticking it out with him for the last 7 years of marriage, and 4 years of dating/engagement before then. Seriously? 5 more years of this? He’s 30. I’m not sure he’ll grow out of it if he hasn’t already, yk?

Well if he’s a truck driver your right, he is very marketable and as long as his driving record isn’t too bad then for him getting a job is as easy as picking up the telephone.

Unfortunately his type of behaviour will never change through talking to him. It will take action, your going to have to tell him this, “If you quit your job without having something else lined up before hand, then you might as well not come home.” and mean it, if he quits without having another job lined up to start the day after he quits then file for divorce. And move on with your life.

Seriously if this guy would stick with a job, as a truck driver he can make some good money with benefits and there would be no need for you to be on welfare. Problem is he’s a baby that needs a good spanking to get movtivated.
