How can I find the meaning of the federal government jobs’ grade?

I am trying to apply to the some jobs with the federal government; however: they have very confusing qualifications (ex. G-2). I tried looking in the USA JOBS website for a table that would tell me what does it mean but can’t find anything.
Thanks Rebbeca, although I knew that, my main question is where can I see what every single step requires?? Like I am applying for a G-5, but is that bachelors with experience or what?

www.opm.gov/qualifications has the listings of all the job qualifications by grade for the specific jobs. You can look by job title or number. Sometimes it takes a little work to fin the job you want to apply for.
