health jobs

The more doctors and health professionals do their job has hardly changed over the last thirty or forty years. Contrast this with the huge changes in transportation, eg, manufacturing and telecommunications!

But they cling to their stethoscopes! Although some doctors still have their heads buried firmly in the sand, the winds of change are blowing and most physicians are using electronic communication technologies, if not with enthusiasm, at least regularly. The combination of technological change, the demands of enterprises and increasing consumption are causing dramatic changes in health care how it is practiced around the world. Health informatics experts are ready to revolutionize health practices through the application of the enormous changes needed in the health system, which had already occurred in other industries. These professionals usually have any health funds, such as nurses and doctors, or information technology, and then receive cross-training in order to work in both areas in the new electronic health systems today and tomorrow.

Changes in health care will be the 21st century equivalent of public health initiatives in sanitation and nutrition, which revolutionized health care in the twentieth century. Integration of online technologies will see doctors and patients working together on electronic health records to patients who have more to say in their treatments. The development of broadband networks widely available video mail and e-health will at the home of all. Patients and physicians work collaboratively on the Internet as parters agreement with the mutual goal of improving health.

Look how fast can the average teen send messages on your phone – Gone are the days when a phone was just an audio device. The way they interact with the communication systems is radically changing the way we behave and think in ways that are impossible to predict. And the computer illiterate children today – the Millennials and the generations to come – Leading to these changes. How many doctors want to interact with patients who use instant messaging? Today, not many, but the doctors of the generation millennium is likely to think nothing of this approach. And these types of systems to be developed by experts trained in health informatics, and understand how to apply information technologies of all kinds to change and improve how we deliver patient care.

Knowledge has never been so important – and most accessible – as it is today.

Technology, and in particular, Internet technology is transforming the medical landscape academic. Many institutions are moving to digital radiography and just full of electronic medical records. I do not write any note paper – all my clinical work is electronically recorded. Residents now armed robberies with a wide range of reference information stored in hand attendees Personal Digital Assistants. The iPod is now a platform presentations, either as "podcasts" and "videocast" and also used as a phone Negatoscopio mobile image. Continuing medical education is increasingly available via the Internet. The digital revolution has greatly altered health systems pursuing an academic education, research and clinical care, and this is spreading to the rest of the health system.

The provision clinical care is changing rapidly as information technology in health is increasingly used and accepted, with a departure from the episodic care to focus on continuity of care, especially for patients with chronic disease that will create the largest disease burden in the future. Care is gradually moving away from a focus on the service provider informed the patient and an individual approach to treatment with a team approach. Increasingly, less Attention is focused on treating the disease and more emphasis on promoting wellness and disease prevention: the model of care "was Information, "first described by Dr. Tom Ferguson, MD. To move to the future of healthcare information age, availability and use of information must be strengthened to facilitate change in the provision of health services and a much more should be placed on the development and improvement of infrastructure information technology, and training of experts in health informatics that can create and develop electronic clinical settings that need both patients and physicians.

This is all happening at a time of crisis in our economy, but America is known for its ability to thrive on challenges and quickly change their industrial practices face of adversity. The health system needs a large number of experts in health informatics, and software training has expanded rapidly. The University of California Davis Health Informatics graduate program, for example, has doubled the number of students Master of Health Informatics in a year, and has enrolled 76 new students in a fully online Health Informatics Certificate in last three months. The Obama Administration is putting billions of dollars in health informatics implementation and training funds Recovery and Reinvestment Act and a growing number of jobs in health informatics are already emerging. The employment website, has just marked CareerBuilder computer health as a number of new job opportunities in the industry, and is highlighting a number of jobs in areas such as telemedicine, official nursing information, links to clinical information technology, programmers, analysts, experts in data integration and directors health services.

So, as health care continues to change and increasingly electronically enabled, be careful with this new generation of health professionals trained in computing, and how they will facilitate changes in health care and ultimately contribute to improving the health of us all.

Peter Yellowlees MD has recently published “Your Health in the Information Age – how you and your doctor can use the Internet to work together”. It is available at http://www.InformationAgeHealth.com and most online bookstores.
