How is it to live in Eugene Oregon?

What is the crime rate like , what kind of jobs are there,How much is a cheap house or apt?…I like the location, just not sure what the town is all about.

i don’t know what the hell the three people above me are talking about (with the exception of the guy who says it’s a hippie town)

it is a fact that eugene is an extremely liberal city. it’s progressive, it’s bohemian, it’s eccentric…hell, it’s a college town.

costs of houses and apartments are relatively cheap, if you have a decent job, you’ll be able to live here, no problem.

as far as jobs go, there is not much of a scarcity of them. you didn’t say what kind of job you were looking for, so i can’t give much of an insight into the matter.

But the town is so beautiful. i lived on the coast for most of my life, i came here and went to the U of O in 1997 and i haven’t left since. The town is full of life and culture and has a fine balance between urban development and the preservation of natural beauty. The Oregon Country Fair and Saturday Market in downtown eugene are both nationally renowned events.

but a warning, if you are conservative, redneck, uber religious, supported bush, bigoted and/or racist or are offended by the idea of legalization of marijuana, you will not fit in here.

however, if you are friendly, open minded and creative, you will love it here.
