College Jobs
How has Steve Jobs managed to become successful despite dropping out of college?
Where did Jobs go to college; when did he dropout? Do you believe that sometimes you don’t need a college degree to succeed in life? What is the true definition of “success (you can talk about yourself here)?” Bill Gates is kind of like Steve Jobs too; is it creativity?
Also, how is Steve jobs idiosyncratic? What does that word mean? Can’t wait to read your answers!
Except for ‘instant fame’ (for example, Susan Boyle and similar), success requires a lot of time and effort. On average, it takes seven years to become an overnight success. Steve Jobs and his partner put in a lot of time building computers in the family garage (or equivalent). Bill Gates did as well.
They also had a few contacts (people they knew, or their families knew) that could give them a couple of breaks that the average person is not likely to have. That’s not knocking their success, by the way; they made use of those contacts, as well as putting in the hard work to make their eventual companies successful. If you think they had it easy, look at their biographies.
Most people who graduate from college and university will never put in the effort of college drop-outs like Gates and Jobs. They will stagnate in jobs working for people already in power (or rich) and always be also-rans.
But don’t take that to mean that you need to be a drop-out to succeed – most drop-outs will fare a lot more badly than graduates, and finish up in real dead-end jobs.
