I recently reviewed my collection of e-mails, I ran into this issue.

"Cathy, I've done a lot. But nothing that really interests me most. The things that tempt me are not financially viable right now because one of the things I like to make it work! "

This challenge is more common than most people think. Clients call me when they are physically and emotionally exhausted. Or who have experienced a series of challenges.

Starting from the career and start another. Experience a great burst of energy as its second takeoff roll. And then your exciting new career going. Or make your dream was not at all I had expected. And now you duck the whole experience and run to a deserted island.

1. Stop trying to crash another party career.

Why keep banging doors closed? Think about creating yourself as a person who will collect all sorts of exciting invitations. Then the doors will open as soon as you call it softly.

2. Reach more opportunities to do what you enjoy.

When you have fun, you meet with the same enthusiasm and success. As a result, you will generate unexpected connections. Most career change (and a surprising number of new business opportunities) arising through serendipity: getting Big Break, while searching for something more.

For example, I started to write reviews of books on amazon.com just for my own amusement. At first my comments seemed only generate intangible benefits: the satisfaction, the letters of the authors, invitations to connect.

Then one day UPS truck delivered a box of best sellers from a major publisher. Now I have the books, customers, media interviews, website visitors and more … all I started a business purely for fun.

3. Find something to enjoy every day, even something as simple as walking the dog (well, that not always so simple).

That will create a foundation that can be used to build a new career or business. Enjoyment (or frustration) may lead to dependence. Do not worry about solving their professional challenges. Just enjoy.

4. Share your career frustrations only with knowledgeable sources, that will keep your questions confidential.

Tend to get more help when it seems that all you want. The opening to the wrong person can kill a potentially lucrative opportunity.

Anyway, there are all kinds of myths floating around race. I am always surprised how many urban legends that circulate about careers support.

5. Continue to learn and growing.

Attend professional meetings, classes, and opportunities for informal networking. You keep your mind active – essential as its next adventure, you probably have a learning curve. And it's hard to be bored and frustrated when you're learning new things every day.

6. Stay moving.

It is tempting to hide when you're not sure what you want, but the action leads to creative problem-solving. Almost any thing is better than sitting on the couch for 6 months.

7. Remember that most people do not follow a linear path to move to its second (or third or fourth) careers.

To take two steps forward and one backward. They zig and zag.

A true story: A man literally fell into his career. As a teenager, fell from a balcony of the church and landed in the organ. Eventually became friends with the specialist repair and, finally, was a learning experience. Finally, had its own body repair business success, dominating its region in this highly niche service.

This example may seem extreme. But the Research shows that most people with a successful career, happy reached by a winding road and at least a chance encounter.
