how did you decide what career to choose?

i have been driving myself nuts trying to decide which path to take. do most people develop one over time without having foreseen what they would do or do most people have a specific plan?

I developed a plan while I was in high school to decide what to major in during college. After a year of college, I decided it wasn’t working for me, so I chose another path. I just chose something I’m good at/enjoy doing. I didn’t choose it for the money.
