All State Career School
NY State High School Teacher?
Hi. I have recently decided to change careers. I am only 24. I have a BA in English Writing a BA in History. I also have a Master’s In English Literature.
I want to become a high school English teacher. Do I need to get my MS in Education? Can I just take all of the exams and do the student teaching hours?
I tried looking at the NYS Teaching website but it was very difficult to use and I could not find the right program for me. I have also contacted a few schools, but have yet to hear anything back .
Please Help.
So, I do need to get a SECOND Master’s?
If you want to teach in a public school, you’ll probably need a credential of some sort, which will require some classes. These classes will probably be offered by public universities in New York. You do not need a Master’s. If you want to teach in a private school, you’ve probably got enough degrees to get you into one (since you don’t need a credential), but they may also want experience.
