Can someone with PhD apply for the job posting that asks for BSc?

Hello, I am a MSc student at my university and my major is computer science (software engineering). I want to continue on my studies and get the PhD, but I am debating whether I should do my PhD because I am afraid about my PhD putting constraint on my job search.
I am not interested in working in academic setting so much, and I would rather work in the industry or government.
After I get my PhD, would I still have a chance to get hired by industries that look for BSc in computer science in their job postings?

You might but it will be a slim chance. Why? You will be way overqualified. They do not want to pay you top dollar. If the jobs you are looking do not require a Ph.d. Then don’t get one. If you do get one not only will it take you an extra 8-10 years but you will be really in debt.

There are only two valid reason to get a Ph.d:
1. You are going into academia and want to get in tenure track.
2. The career you are looking to join requires it. There are not many of those out there.

Everything else don’t bother. Heck even having a Masters might put you in the overqualified section.
