Plan thoroughly…over plan. Test the children, to know where they are in reading, math and spelling. Get next to a “seasoned” teacher to see what they do. But, before you can teach, you must have good discipline! Students must know the “rules” of the classsroom! What they can do and what is not allowed. Ex. “When I am speaking to all, no one else talks. When we work as groups/in groups, you can talk, but softlly, etc. These things are much more valuable to you and your classroom, then having all the knowledge that you will be sharing. They will also love you, and so will your parents. Over-plan! Bill
No question here but it seems like you want to give this forum guidance on assisting a person to become a teacher. That is good in itself, but Y!A wants you to formulate a question for others to share “their” knowledge and answer the question. I don’t take stock in “over-planning” do to the time consumption it takes to plan, but it is a necessary evil to do some planning. MENTORING, is what you are suggesting here, and that is a good idea.
